Eurasian Spoonbill (Platalea leucorodia)

Two weeks ago we camped on the island of Texel. Texel hosts the largest and oldest colony of spoonbills in the Netherlands. We spotted this one in a ditch near De Petten, which is part of the Dunes of Texel National Park.

One of the richest bird areas of Texel is the salt marsh area de Schorren. It is a flood refuge for many wading birds.
